DoE fines 2 Gazipur dyeing factories Tk 2.1m

Department of Environment (DoE) fined two dyeing factories Tk 2.1 million for polluting the environment. Onetex Ltd of Sripur Upazila of the district was fined Tk 1.1 million while Hamim Denim Ltd Tk 1 million. The DoE summoned the authorities of the two factories at its Dhaka headquarters and after a hearing Director (Enforcement) Md Alamgir awarded the fine. During the hearing, the authorities sought an apology and pledged a commitment to taking preventive measures to refrain from damaging the environment, according to a news agency.
