Does the government careabout traffic mess

Wednesday, 10 September 2008

What will happen to our traffic system The reported boom in car sales worries me about the future of our road traffic. Dhaka city is already overburdened with the vehicles. How would it take the extra pressure of more imported cars, lying at the Chittagong port brThe car imports increased since the government allowed the import of cars more than three years old. The middle class people have become potential buyers with the banks providing car loans. There is no doubt that the sufferings of this class of people is beyond imagination. Right now they cannot afford to buy cars, cannot travel by bus, they cannot ride rickshaws, taxi-cabs because of the exorbitant fares and also because they are never available when needed.brBut how can the authorities allow the imports without assessing everything Does it care about the road capacity, foreign currency needed to import oil, the existing gas reserve etc. More cars would lead to collapse of the Dhaka city traffic. We have to think about mass transport to remove the sufferings of the middle class people.brbrRoisuddin AhmedbrAgrabadbrChittagong br
