DoJ warns against non-compliance
FE Report | Wednesday, 17 September 2014
The Department of Jute (DoJ) has issued a warning of taking punitive actions against non-compliance with the Jute Packaging Act 2010.
DoJ, in a press note dated September 11, 2014, mentioned that for packaging up to 20 kilogrammes of paddy, rice, wheat, maize and fertilisers, the stakeholders concerned will have to use jute bags on mandatory basis.
It also said the government has taken initiatives to supply jute bags from mill gates and sales centres to make the products available to consumers.
