Dollar hoarders to face legal action Warns DB

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued a warning on Thursday that legal action would be taken if anyone hoards US dollar considering the prevailing situation.
Additional Police Commissioner, DB, DMP Harun-Or- Rashid disclosed it to the media at a press briefing at DMP media centre in the capital on Thursday.
"We (DB) will take legal action if anyone is involved in illegal hoarding of US dollars during the present upward trend in prices of dollar against taka," he said.
He also warned that they would take legal action against the persons involved in forging dollars and will launch a crackdown on the offence soon.
"If we (DB) get information that any person is involved in hoarding dollars or has a dollar forging machine, we will take legal action against him or her," he said with a note of warning.
The DB official further said they had earlier arrested the ringleader of a dollar forgery racket in possession of counterfeit notes worth Tk1.6 million and a machine for producing fake currencies.
The arrestee was identified as Humayun Kabir (48). DB members arrested him from his Mohammadpur residence in the capital on Wednesday night.
One laptop, one printer, one lamination machine, three dices for making fake notes, two packets of fake currency producing paper and two mobile phone sets were also recovered from his possession.
