Dollar sinks to fresh low

Sunday, 21 October 2007

NEW YORK, Oct 20 (AFP): The weakened US dollar tumbled further yesterday on foreign exchange markets, sinking to another record low against the euro, as Group of Seven finance chiefs met for talks in Washington.
Analysts expect G7 finance ministers and central bank chiefs to discuss exchange rate tensions, but it was unclear if they would make any specific, or public, references to the dollar or the euro.
At 2100 GMT, the euro was swapping hands at 1.4301 dollars, up from 1.4297 late Thursday. The euro had earlier surged to a record 1.4319 dollars.
