Dollar stable, call rate steady

The US dollar remained stable against the Bangladesh taka (BDT) Tuesday in the interbank foreign exchange market. The market experienced steady demand for the greenback, fund managers said.

The exchange rate of the dollar against the BDT ranged between Tk 69.00 and Tk 69.06 against the previous day's range of between Tk 69.01 and Tk 69.05 in the inter-bank foreign exchange market.

The dollar was also stable in public deals. The cash dol lar in public deals was transacted at rates varying between Tk 67.10 and Tk 69.90 against previous day's range of between Tk 67.20 and Tk 69.90.

In the informal market, the dollar maintained its steady level and it was traded at rates varying between Tk 70.60 and Tk 70.90 in the informal market against the previous day's range of between Tk 70.50 and Tk 70.90. The demand for the greenback was higher in the informal market, money dealers said.

The inter-bank call money rate was steady with downward bias on the day. The market experienced normal pressure on liquidity despite withdrawal of cash through reverse repurchase agreement (repo), bills and bonds, fund managers said.

The rate moved between 6.90 per cent and 10.00 per cent against the previous day's range of between 7.00 per cent and 10.00 per cent.
