BEIJING, Aug 15 (BSS): Bangladesh ace swimmer Dolly Akhter failed miserably as she finished last in the heat number 4 of the Women's 50m freestyle at the National Aquatics Center here Friday.
Eight swimmers participated in the heat and most disappointingly, Dolly was the last to put her hand on the touchline.
The matter became more embarrassing as two swimmers from the subcontinent-Kiran Khan of Pakistan and Aminath Rouya Hussain of Maldives-finished ahead of the Bangladesh swimmer.
Dolly took 30.23 seconds, Pakistan's Kiran clocked 29.84 seconds and Maldives' Aminath timed 30.21 seconds.
Kiran and Aminath were placed sixth and seventh. The heat was won by Ximene Gomes of Mozambique.
Dolly's previous best timing was 29.80 seconds which was a hand timing record, BOA member and swimming manager Mohammad Israfil told BSS. He also said Dolly was very nervous and was overawed by the big occasion.
