Don’t hike gas price, BNP warns govt
Sunday, 5 October 2014
Protesting the move to raise gas price, BNP called upon the government on Saturday to rescind its decision to avert any bad consequences, reports UNB.
"The government will have to face adverse consequence if it raises the price of gas. We want to tell the government clearly that it won't be able to govern the country smoothly by intensifying the sufferings of people through gas price hike," BNP joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said.
The BNP leader said this while addressing a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources recently recommended raising the gas price by 5 per cent to 122 per cent.
Rizvi observed that the 'illegal' government would not be able to escape public wrath by carrying out killing and repressive acts on BNP leaders and activists.
"This regime is thinking that they'll be able to get away by hiding its misdeeds by killing BNP's leaders and activists. Cruel leaders of the world think like that, but the government wouldn't be able to escape," he said.
