Telecom regulator said it has kept the door open for the Grameenphone after the talks between the two over unpaid revenue by the country's largest mobile operator ended without result on Monday, officials said.
The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC), however, has cautioned that time is running out for the operator to clear the regulator's Tk 30.34 billion dues and the GP must pay the amount by October 24.
"The commission took the decision Tuesday that the operator would come any time, but before 24 October, for discussion taking all-out preparation," said AKM Shahiduzzaman, Director General (Legal & Licensing Division) of BTRC.
He said the commission asked the GP to come with necessary document to place on behalf of their stand.
The BTRC official told the FE that the commission sent a letter to the operator on Tuesday stating that the door for discussion is open for the operator.
Chief Communication Officer (CCO) of GP Kazi Monirul Kabir admitted that they got a letter from the regulatory authority and they will clear their position today (Wednesday).
He informed the FE that they are now not ready to comment in this connection because of non-availability of the letter".
