DPE implements infrastructure projects in eight districts

RAJSHAHI, Jun 06 (BSS): The Department of Primary Education (DPE) has been implementing various infrastructure development projects worth around Tk 5.40 billion in eight districts under Rajshahi division.
Works of four of the major projects were completed at an estimated cost of Tk 4.14 billion during the last five fiscal years. Implementation of four others projects are ongoing at the cost of Tk 1.25 billion.
Abul Khayer, Divisional Deputy Director of DPE, said Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) supervise and monitor the field-level implementation works in Rajshahi, Naogaon, Chapainawabgonj, Natore, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Bogra and Joypurhat districts.
He said 1,273 primary schools were either constructed or reconstructed while 803 others repaired and renovated at cost of around Tk 4.02 billion till June last.
Renovation and repairing works of eight district primary education offices, as well as vertical extension, renovation and maintenance work of 55 upazila education office buildings were completed with cost of around Tk 109.8 million.
Ten primary teachers' institutes and 64 upazila resource centres were renovated, repaired and furnished at the cost of Tk 9.46 million.
