Dr Atiur made ACU chairman

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman has been made chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) for 2015. The decision was taken at the 43rd meeting of the Board of Directors of ACU held on the Kish Island of Iran Friday, said a BB press release. The BB will host the 44th meeting of the Board of Directors
of this nine-member organisation in Dhaka in 2015. Myanmar will be the vice-chair. ACU was established in December 1974 at the initiatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and began its operations by the first week of November 1975.    — BSS
