Malaysia's former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Bin Mohammad arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning to attend the convocation of the University of Information, Technology and Sciences (UITS). A special aircraft carrying Dr Mahathir landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at Kurmitola in the city at about 10:30 am, said UITS assistant registrar Rashida Banu Tithi. On his arrival, Dr Mahathir was received at the airport by UITS Board of Trustees chairman Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury and UITS vice chancellor Dr Mohammad Samad, she added. The convocation will begin at 3 pm at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre today where President Abdul Hamid will preside over the UITS’ second convocation ceremony. During his visit in Bangladesh, Dr Mahathir will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 7:30 pm today at her official residence Ganobhaban. Dr Mahathir is scheduled to leave Dhaka at 9:30 am on Sunday, according to UNB.
