Dr Sadiq joins PRI as Vice Chairman

Dr. Sadiq Ahmed has joined the Policy Research Institute (PRI) of Bangladesh as its Vice Chairman.
A leading Bangladeshi economist, Dr. Sadiq Ahmed has taken early retirement from the World Bank (WB), to team up with his economist colleagues at the PRI. During his 28-year long career at the WB, he held many key positions and worked on several countries in Asia and Africa region, though he was mainly involved with the South Asia region and Bangladesh for the past twelve years.
Dr. Sadiq Ahmed was the WB Country Director for Pakistan and Afghanistan before becoming the Chief Economist and Director, South Asia Region. Prior to his retirement, he was heading the South Asia regional programme.
Dr. Sadiq is a development practitioner and a leading expert on macroeconomic policy, trade, poverty and regional economic integration issues. He has published numerous articles on Bangladesh economy in national and international journals. He has several books to his credit written on the economies of Bangladesh, India and South Asia. His latest book -- South Asia: Accelerating Growth and Creating Jobs -- was published by the Oxford University Press.
