Dr Vineeta Gupta's lecture at BRAC Centre today

The BRAC Human Rights and Legal Services (HRLS) will host a talk by Dr. Vineeta Gupta on 'Health Rights through Litigation: Bridging the Gap Between Public Health and Law' today (Wednesday) at 3:30 pm at the BRAC Center Inn located in Mohakhali.

The objective of the seminar is to examine litigation as a strategy to secure accountability for health rights and the challenges this raises. The presentation will explore and share the importance of using legal strategies to achieve progress on urgently needed public health priorities in Bangladesh.

The program will foster a dialogue amongst lawyers, doctors, representatives of social movements and community organizations, independent journalists, researchers, human and health rights activists and build strong links between the fields of public health, law and human rights.

Dr. Vineeta Gupta has traveled widely in Europe and the U.S addressing the impact of international policies on Global South countries. In addition to her work in health rights she investigated, documented and litigated many human rights cases and her work has been acknowledged by many national and international organizations.

BRAC Human Rights and Legal Services (HRLS) program, established in 1998, provides legal and human rights education and awareness, and legal services to rural poor particularly women, and local community leaders, and activates social catalysts to respond to human rights violations.
