Dr. Yunus for 'Aynaghar' replica in mass uprising museum

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government, on Monday directed the authorities concerned to build a replica of the 'Aynaghar' (Mirror House) at the museum proposed to be constructed in the place of Gonobhaban.
Gonobhaban was used as the official residence of the country's prime minister  until the ouster of the former Awami League regime.
Security agencies, receiving orders from the notorious Sheikh Hasina-led authoritarian regime, secretly detained hundreds of dissidents and opposition activists at 'Aynaghar'.
Hasina faced a massive upsurge against her 15-years regime, which many believes bears testimony of poor governance throughout.
"The Aynaghar replica should remind visitors of the tortures suffered by the secret prisoners," the chief adviser said during his visit to Ganobhaban.
Dr Yunus asked advisers to fast-track construction of the museum in place of the Gonobhaban to honour the sacrifice of the martyrs and the wounded during the July-August Anti-Discrimination Mass Movement, according to a spokesperson of the CA's office.
"The museum should preserve the memories of her misrule and the anger people expressed when they ousted her from power," Professor Muhammad Yunus said as he inspected the ruins of Gonobhaban.
On August 5, hundreds of thousands of protesters stormed the Gonobhaban after Hasina fled Bangladesh to take refuge in India.
Protesters expressed their anger on the Gonobhaban walls and rooms by drawing graffiti and writing protest notes such as 'Khuni Hasina' (killer Hasina). They also looted the residence to celebrate victory. Some of the plunders were later recovered.
Adilur Rahman Khan, Nahid Islam, and Asif Mahmud, all of whom are advisers of the interim government, accompanied the chief adviser during the visit.
Professor Yunus told the advisers to consult with museologists and relevant professionals to finalise a proposal for the museum by December this year.
Nahid Islam, a student leader turned adviser, said, "Misdeeds of the Hasina regime, starting from 2009, will be meticulously preserved at the museum."
He said they were consulting with experts from other countries to receive inspiration on constructing a memorial museum, which would commemorate the revolution.
Mahfuj Alam, special assistant to the chief adviser, was also among the team who made the visit.
