Draft finalised for climate change trust fund policy

The government Wednesday finalised a draft of the Climate Change Trust Fund Policy to facilitate implementation of the programmes under Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan- 2009 to face the adverse impacts of climate change, reports BSS.
The draft was finalised in the third meeting of a committee formed by the government to formulate the policy with its chairman and Prime Minister's Advisor on Economic Affairs Dr Moshiur Rahman presiding over it. State Minister for Environment and Forests Advocate Mustafizur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affair Dr Hasan Mahmud and senior officials of the concerned ministry attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to send the draft to the cabinet division for quick approval to make the trust fund operational for which the government has allocated Tk 7.0 billion (700 crore) during the current fiscal year.
Officials of Ministry of Environment and Forests said the trust fund acclaimed by the international community would be a domestic fund to be operated by a 10-member trustee board.
