CHITTAGONG, July 11: The police in Chittagong will launch a drive against the CNG-driven auto-rickshaws plying without grills from tomorrow.
The CMP officials said, many three-wheelers run on CNG are plying in the port city without grills on both sides. They were asked to have iron-grills to protect the passengers from snatching.
DC (traffic) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Faruk Ahmed said the three-wheelers were given one month's time to have grills. The deadline crossed Saturday but many vehicles are still plying without grills.
There are some 13,000 CNG-run autos in the port city. Snatching from the passengers on CNG-run three-wheelers has increased alarmingly in the city, CMP officials said.
