Drive at N\\\'ganj councilor\\\'s house eyewash: BNP

Sunday, 4 May 2014

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed as eyewash the police raid in the house of Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven murder case. “Law enforcers raided Nur Hossain’s house so many days after the abduction and killing of the seven men when people burst into protests. It was nothing but an eyewash”, he said while addressing BNP’s 8-hour hunger strike in the city on Sunday. As part of the party’s nationwide mass hunger strike programme, Dhaka city unit BNP arranged the programme at the National Press Club premises. Dhaka city unit BNP convenor Sadeq Hossain Khoka presided over the programme that began around 9:15 am. Mirza Alamgir said there is no rule of law and security of people in the country as Bangladesh has become a country of killing, forced disappearance and abduction. He said people have become increasingly vocal against forced disappearance and abduction after the gruesome Naranyanganj 7 murder. Mirza Alamgir alleged that the government is harassing the opposition leaders and activists, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, by implicating them in false cases, according to UNB.
