Driver killed, taxi hijacked at Ashulia

A group of car-jackers stabbed a taxi driver to death before fleeing with the taxicab from Ashulia in the capital Tuesday night, police said.
An officer of Ashulia police station told the FE after being informed they recovered Mohammad Shamim, 35, driver of the taxicab from Jamgora area at about 11:00pm and sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Quoting a witness, the police officer said a gang of four assailants in the guise of passengers hired the taxicab from in front of the theme park Fantasy Kingdom.
When the cab reached Navana point in Jamgora, on its way to Dhaka, the gang stabbed the driver indiscriminately before throwing him out of the car. Later, they fled with the taxicab, leaving the driver fatally wounded.
The police are yet to arrest anyone in connection with the murder and the hijacking.
