The bodies of a couple, who went missing in a boat capsize in Kaptai Lake on Wednesday, were recovered on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Alauddin Patwari, an American expatriate, and his wife Ireen Sultana. Mohamamd Imtiaz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station in Rangamati, said locals spotted the bodies of the couple in a hug floating in Jibantoli area of the lake and informed police who recovered the bodies from the lake. But the whereabouts of the couple’s child could not be known yet. Patwari, his wife Ireen and their child went missing as an engine-run boat carrying them sank in the Kaptai Lake after being caught by a violent storm on Wednesday around 4:00pm. Hailing from Comilla, the three-member family was on a tour to Chittagong. They had hired the boat for an hour’s trip in the lake, according to UNB.
