DRU-The Blazer BD Sports Festival begins

DRU-The Blazer BD Sports Festival, organized by Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) and sponsored by the Blazers BD Limited, began Thursday through chess competition at the DRU office in the city, reports UNB.
State Minister for Youth and Sports M Ahad Ali Sarkar formally inaugurated the meet as chief guest.
DRU president Shamim Ahmed, vice-president Ajmal Haque Helal, general secretary Pathik Saha, BCB director Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul, CEO of sponsors and Archery Federation general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, and DRU sports secretary Qamruzzaman Hiru were present.
There are nine events in the competition - Chess, Bridge, Carom (single), Table Tennis, Badminton, Swimming, Shooting, Archery and Mini Marathon.
Sponsors The Blazer BD will provide Tk 100,000 of the total competition budget of Tk 170,000. Besides, the State Minister announced a Tk 200,000 donation to DRU for successfully hosting the competition.
