Drugs worth Tk 1.05b seized in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Apr 26: 34 Border Guard Battalion (BGB) members recovered crystal meth (ice) worth Tk 1.05 billions weighing 21 kg, from a shelter in the border area of Ukhia Upazila of Cox's Bazar.
Three people were arrested in this connection.
Drugs were recovered from Palangkhali Rahmat beel area of the upazila around 3 am on Wednesday (April 26).
The arrested are Buzruk Mia (28), Mohammad Ismail (25) and Chhaidul Bashar (40) of Balukhali area of Palongkhali Union.
Sector Commander Colonel Mehdi Hossain Kabir confirmed the recovery in a press briefing organised at the conference room of 34 BGB today afternoon.
He said that based on secret information, the members of Balukhali BOP took a strategic position and increased the intelligence activities based on the information about the smuggling of drug crystal meth (ice) from Myanmar.
At one point, news came that a large amount of ice has been stored in Palangkhali Rahmat Bill area for the purpose of smuggling.
On receiving information, 20 packets of ice weighing 21 kg were recovered from a shelter.
The BGB official said that the market value of the recovered ice is Tk 1.05 billion.
