DSCC conducts drive to evict illegal bus counters
FE REPORT | Thursday, 9 April 2026
The authorities of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted on Wednesday a major eviction drive against illegal bus counters and structures around the Sayedabad inter-district bus terminal to improve traffic flow and restore road discipline.
Executive Magistrate of DSCC Aminul Islam led the drive that started around 12:30pm after a three-hour delay caused by discussions with bus owners' representatives.
The drive focused on the area from TT Para intersection to Dholaipar, targeting 240 identified illegal and unauthorised bus counters operating outside the main terminal.
Several unauthorised counters were demolished, and others were sealed.
The authorities used loudspeakers to give owners a 30-minute warning to vacate before proceeding with the demolition.
The eviction was in line with a March 10, 2026, coordination meeting decision involving the DSCC, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), and bus owners' associations to clear illegal structures before the Eid-ul-Fitr rush.
