DSCC firm to remove all Eid wastes

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Saturday vowed to continue its drive to remove animal wastes from the city until the capital becomes clean deapite slaughtering of sacrificial anumals in the city streets continued on the 2nd day of Holy Eid ul-Azha.
 DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon said Qurbani animal wastes will be removed from the capital during Eid-ul-Azha holidays. However, he said the difficult thing is to clean the animal haats. However, it would also be cleaned soon, he said, vowing the cleansing drive to continue until the last drop of animal blood or waste is revoved. On Friday, the mayor inaugurated the garbage management work in Dholaikhal area of the city. Sayed Khokon informed that the city-dwellers can complain through the city corporations’ website if there is any waste left in front of their houses. The city corporations will then take prompt and necessary step to remove the same. When asked why city-dwellers did not use the 324 places in DSCC designated for for slaughtering animals and dumping quarbani wastes, the mayor said it was not mandatory as dwellers can slaughter sacrificial animals on their house premises. “Our initiative was to create awareness among the people to slaughter animal in certain places to keep the city clean”, he stated, according to a news agency.
