FE Report
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said on Friday that action will be taken against the traders if they sell adulterated food.
"We will take actions if we find anybody selling food mixed with chemicals and harmful substances," he told journalists after visiting the country's largest traditional Iftar bazaar at Chalkbazar in the city.
He talked to the traders (Iftar items sellers) and asked whether they mix chemical and colours with the food items.
The Iftar traders informed the city father that they were maintaining utmost hygiene while preparing and selling the foodstuffs (Iftar items).
Mr Khokon said a total of 10 teams of DSCC are now conducting market monitoring drive who examine whether the traders sell food openly or colour- mixed food.
The teams will examine the foods. If the traders sell adulterated food, then they will face fine and jail term.
Chief Health Officer of DSCC Brigaider General (retd) Mahbub and local ruling party leaders, among others, accompanied the mayor.
