DSCC to provide civic amenities to newly incorporated wards

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon announced on Monday that they will provide all modern facilities to the residents of newly incorporated wards.
"We will provide all civic amenities to the inhabitants of newly incorporated wards to turn them into a modern city. It is our long-term plan," he said at a meeting with newly elected ward councillors at bank floor seminar room of Nagar Bhaban in the capital.
"We are pledge-bound to ensure the facilities for the people as we are elected by them. We will 'repay debt' through providing better services to them," he added.
The mayor said DSCC has been facing manpower shortage for last four years. "It is now working with only 40 per cent manpower."
Development works of the corporation sometimes face difficulties due to bureaucratic complexities, he said, and requested the bureaucrats to remove bureaucratic complexities for ensuring faster development works of the corporation.
"The Ministry of Public Works must win the confidence of old Dhaka city dwellers," he said while replying to a question on the Rajuk's redevelopment plan for old part of Dhaka.
He said the issue should be discussed with all.
Member of Parliament (MP) Haji Md Selim, chief executive officer of the corporation Mostafizur Rahman and its secretary Mostafa Kamal Majumder were also present at the meeting.
