DSE bull run continues

The uptrend in stock prices in the country's bourses entered the seventh day on Wednesday.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) decided earlier that five top issues instead of being traded on Spot Market would be traded in public from Wednesday. The decision lent injecting new momentum to trading in the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
The five shares-- AB Bank, Dhaka Electric Supply Co..(DESCO), Brac Bank, Power Grid and Summit Power, were traded hugely in the 'public market' on Wednesday.
The trading of the five issues had been moved to the "Spot Market" by the SEC on July 22 following "unusual surge" in their prices mainly based on speculations.
On Wednesday, the prices of insurance and IT maintained upward trend due to higher demand.
Although the total turnover on the DSE declined marginally, both the indices and the total market capitalisation on the day increased further.
DSE General Index (DGEN), All Shares Price Index (DSI) and DSE-20 Index (DS20) gained 12.490 points, 4.726 points and 1.772 points to close at 2540.974, 2119.332 and 2041.407 respectively.
The total turnover declined to Tk 2.094 billion from its previous Tk 2.147 billion. The total market capitalisation rose to Tk 589.361 billion from Tk 587.328 billion previously.
Out of 210 traded issues, the prices of 130 gained, 59 declined and 21 remained unchanged.
Power Grid maintained its position as the turnover leader with transactions worth Tk 342.416 million followed by BRAC Bank. Tk 236.448 million, Desco Tk 95.910 million, Summit Power Tk 92.387 million, AB Bank Tk 90.334 million, City Bank Tk 60.876 million, NBL Tk 56.784 million, MTBL Tk 43.392 million, Uttara Bank Tk 42.112 million and UCBL Tk 41.930 million.
Prices of Power Grid gained by 5.26 per cent to Tk 664.25, BRAC Bank by 2.17 per cent to Tk 1140.00 and MTBL by 0.15 per cent to Tk 488.75.
Desco share prices declined by 0.56 per cent to Tk 1140.50, Summit Power by 5.30 per cent to Tk 1325.00, AB Bank by 2.22 per cent to Tk 2306.00, City Bank by 4.66 per cent to Tk 740.50, NBL by 3.56 per cent to Tk 1230.00, Uttara Bank by 2.19 per cent to Tk 3750.00 and UCBL by 0.85 per cent to Tk 4281.75.
Atlas Bangladesh informed that the board of directors has decided to hold an EGM of the company to amend Memorandum and Articles of Associations for increasing Authorized capital of the company to Tk. 200 million from the existing Tk. 100 million.
