DSE, CSE down at opening

The prices of most of the shares on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend in early hours of trading on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 16.57 points or 0.38 per cent to stand at 4,311.83 points after first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 9.78 points or 0.61 per cent to reach at 1,593.67 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) went down by 6.08 points or 0.61 per cent to stand at 986.88 points. The turnover value on the DSE stood at Tk 188.95 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 54 advanced, 75 declined and 35 issues remain unchanged. Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 86.70 million changing hands till then followed by Bangas, Aftab Automobiles, Beximco and BSCCL. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw negative trend at opening with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – losing 16.77 points to stand at 8,248.10 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 7 gained, 21 declined and 5 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 8.28 million.
