DSE, CSE gain at opening

The prices of most of the shares at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend in early hours of trading on Wednesday, the third trading day of the current week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 21.89 points or 0.47 per cent to reach 4,598.26 points after first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, added 8.96 points or 0.51 per cent to stand at 1,742.87 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) climbed by 3.89 points or 0.36 per cent to reach 1,074.15. DSE turnover stood at Tk 1.10 billion when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 127 advanced, 39 declined and 19 remained unchanged. Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 125 million changing hands till then followed by Beximco, Titas Gas, KPPL and Lafarge Surma Cement. The port city bourse, CSE, also gained in early hour with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – adding 56.15 points to stand at 8,637.52, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 39 advanced, 23 slumped and 9 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 63.64 million.
