DSE, CSE open optimistic after Eid vacation

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw upward trend in early hour of trading Monday, the opening day after week-long Eid holiday. However, the presence of the investors is thin on the trading floor as many investors are yet to come in Dhaka after Eid vacation. After first 30 minutes of the day’s trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 13.03 points or 0.26 per cent to 4,866.32, when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other induces also saw positive trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 6.64 points or 0.35 per cent to 1,866.99. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 5.38 points or 0.45 per cent to stand at 1,196.42. DSE turnover stood at only Tk353 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 105 advanced, 58 declined and 46 remained unchanged. Lafarge Surma Cement was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk33 million changing hands followed by BSRM Steels, Beximco Pharma, RSRM Steels and Saif Powertec. The port city bourse – the CSE also saw upward trend at opening with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 23.40 points to stand at 9,071.10, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 46 gained, 23 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk23.54 million.
