DSE, CSE rise at opening

The prices of most of the shares on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend in early hours of trading on Tuesday, the third session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 30.00 points or 0.58 per cent to 5,187.25 after the first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 10.18 points or 0.52 per cent to 1,956.70. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 6.57 points or 0.54 per cent to reach 1,219.97 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 698 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 133 advanced, 30 declined and 19 remained unchanged. Brac Bank was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 63m changing hands till then followed by KPPL, CVO Petrochemical, GP and Saif Powertec. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw positive trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index, CSCX, gaining 49.60 points to reach 9,725.32, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 55 gained, 19 declined and 6 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 46m.
