DSE, CSE see downturn

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed negative trend in early hours of trading on Monday, maintaining the previous day’s downturn. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by 12.34 points or 0.24 per cent to 5,099.29 after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 8.69 points or 0.45 per cent to 1,918.19. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 4.07 points or 0.33 per cent to stand at 1,201.30 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 570 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 62 advanced, 95 declined and 28 remained unchanged. MJL BD was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 113.33 billion changing hands till then followed by Brac Bank, GP, Quasem Drycells and Lafarge Surma Cement. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw negative trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index, the CSCX, declining 20.78 points to stand at 9,594.19, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 13 gained, 45 declined and 12 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 34m.
