DSE, CSE see sharp rise at opening

The prices of most of the shares at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw sharp rise in early hours of trading on Thursday, the week’s last session. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 66.67 points or 1.38 per cent to reach 4,865.06 after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11.05am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 33.18 points or 1.76 per cent to 1,912.48. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 15.79 points or 1.38 per cent to reach 1,152.47 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 1.89 billion when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 137 advanced, 41 declined and 33 remained unchanged. BSRM Steels was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 191 million changing hands till then followed by MJL BD, Beximco Pharma, Active Fine and Beximco. The port city bourse, CSE, also saw sharp rise in early hour with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 90.33 points to reach 9,024.45, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 61 gained, 29 declined and 12 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 121.35 million.
