DSE, CSE shares down

The prices of shares at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) slid in early hours of trading on Thursday, maintaining the previous session’s negative trend. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down 15.48 points or 0.34 per cent to stand at 4,442.12 points after the first 30 minutes of trade when the report was filled at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed 5.82 points or 0.35 per cent to reach 1,616.76 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.61 points or 0.36 per cent to stand at 993.10 points. DSE turnover value stood at Tk 359 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 74 advanced, 104 declined and 38 remained unchanged. Debutant Hwa Well Textiles was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 26.56 million changing hands till then followed by EHL, Northern Insurance, Lafarge Surma Cement and JMI Syringe. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw downward trend at opening with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX lost 118.02 points to stand at 8,550.94 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 27 gained, 40 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 18.04 million.
