DSE, CSE soar at opening

The prices of most of the shares in the country’s two bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed sharp rise in early hours of trading on Sunday, the opening day of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 43.21 points or 0.96 per cent to stand at 4,529.40 after first 30 minutes of the session when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 22.79 points or 1.37 per cent to reach 1,675.50. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced by 13.99 points or 1.36 per cent to stand at 1,040.27. The DSE turnover stood at Tk 1.30 billion when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 165 advanced, 18 declined and 22 remained unchanged. MJL BD was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 218.47 million changing hands till then followed by GP, Active Fine, Shahjibazar Power and Square Pharma. The port city bourse – CSE – also soared in early hour with its Selective Category Index, CSCX, gaining 57.71 points to reach 8,550.13, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 61 gained, 19 declined and 2 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 56.76 million.
