DSE, CSE start positive

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early hours of trading on Thursday amid choppy trading, the last session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 16.96 points or 0.35 per cent to 4,854.88 after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The other two indices saw upward trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 9.24 points or 0.51 per cent to 1,797.94. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 7.02 points or 0.61 per cent to reach 1,144.90 points. Turnover at the country’s main bourse stood at Tk 159 million when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 116 advanced, 93 declined and 28 remained unchanged. RAK Ceramics was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 20m changing hands till then followed by Quasem Drycells, Tung Knitting, Agni Systems and Lafarge Surma Cement. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw positive trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 4.56 points to 9,104.49, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 33 advanced, 49 declined and 20 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 13m.
