DSE, CSE stumble at opening

The prices of most of the shares on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trend in early hours of trading on Thursday, the last session of the week. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 25.75 points or 0.48 per cent to stand at 5,289.36 points after the 1st 30 minutes of trade when the report was filed at 11am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 7.38 points or 0.36 per cent to dip to 1,994.69. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) declined 5.69 points or 0.45 per cent to stand at 1,243.08 points. DSE turnover stood at Tk 1.06 billion when the report was filed at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 53 advanced, 158 declined and 38 remained unchanged. Bangladesh Building Systems was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 72 million changing hands till then followed by MJL BD, Titas Gas, Square Pharma and Peninsula Chittagong. The port city bourse – CSE – also saw negative trend in early hour with its Selective Category Index, CSCX, losing 50.52 points to stand at 9,909.19 points, also at 11am. Of the issues traded till then, 18 gained, 87 declined and 17 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 74 million.
