DSE fines seven listed companies

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has slapped a daily fine of Tk 500 on seven listed companies for failing to submit their individual half yearly unaudited reports to the premier bourse by due date.

The fine became effective from last Friday in line with the DSE listing regulations, said the separate letters issued by the prime bourse to those companies on Sunday.

According to the DSE listing regulations, every listed company has to submit its unaudited half-yearly reports to the stock exchange.

As per the regulations, a total of 146 listed companies were required to submit their unaudited reports to the stock exchange by July 31 as their financial year ended on June 30.

A total of 139 companies, however, have submitted their unaudited reports in due time. Of these companies, the half-yearly financial reports showed that 93 companies earned net profit after tax and the rest incurred losses.

The defaulting companies are: BD Wielding, Beach Hatchery Limited, BEMCO, Meghna Shrimp, Saleh Carpet, Sreepur Textile and Wata Chemicals.

Last year, the number of companies which failed to submit half -yearly reports was six while 133 out of 139 listed companies were able to submit reports within the time frame.
