DSE indices keep gaining despite fall in turnover over profit taking

The indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) maintained its upward trend Thursday, the last trading day of the week, though the turnover declined due to profit taking by the investors.
Market operators said the prices of shares of different companies continued to rise steeply over the last few days and now it was the turn of the investors to take profit. As a result, the total turnover declined Thursday.
The All Shares Price Index (DSI), DSE-20 Index (DS20) and DSE General Index (DGEN) gained by 10.463 points, 8.687 points and 12.553 points to close at 1706.482, 1858.029 and 2087.102 respectively.
In Thursday's trading, the total turnover declined to Tk 1.511 billion (151.1 crore) from Tk 1.758 billion of the previous day. The total market capitalisation increased to Tk 462.106 billion Thursday from Tk 458.710 billion of the previous day.
Out of 201 issues traded, prices of 84 gained, 100 declined and 17 remained unchanged on the day.
Square Textile was the turnover leader with its traded issues worth Tk 101.455 million followed by Power Grid with Tk 84.851 million, Square Pharma Tk 79.753 million, Summit Power Tk 77.376 million, BRAC Bank Tk 71.343 million, Southeast Bank Tk 65.162 million, Desco Tk 61.402 million, National Bank Limited (NBL) Tk 60.813 million, Heidelberg Cement Tk 52.915 million and Premier Bank Tk 45.415 million on the day.
Prices of Square Textile shares gained by 5.69 per cent to close at Tk 115.00 per share, Power Grid gained by 0.77 per cent to Tk 587.25, Square Pharma by 0.75 per cent to Tk 3866.50, Summit Power by 0.90 per cent to Tk 917.50, Desco by 2.86 per cent to Tk 924.25, NBL by 4.19 per cent to Tk 777.00, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) by 8.73 per cent to Tk 3571.00, Fareast Life Insurance by 12.68 per cent to Tk 1106.25, Federal Insurance by 10.00 per cent to Tk 88.00, First ICB AMCL by 12.61 per cent to Tk 381.50 and Popular Life Insurance by 11.84 per cent to Tk 1036.50.
Prices of BRAC Bank shares declined by 0.35 per cent to Tk 707.00 each, Southeast Bank by 0.31 per cent to Tk 473.25, Heidelberg Cement by 1.56 per cent to Tk 1021.75 and Premier Bank by 0.32 per cent to Tk 306.75.
