DSE starts on positive note

The Dhaka Stock Exchange started on a positive note in the early hours on Wednesday – the 4th session of the week. After the first one-and-half hours’ of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, rose 0.15 per cent or 7.05 points to 4581. DS30, comprising blue chips, went up by 0.06 per cent or 1.09 points to 1734.12. However DSES (DSE’s Shariah index) shed 0.03 per cent or 0.41 points to stand at 1102.40 points. The turnover value stood at above Tk1.33 billion when the report was filed at around 11.51am.
Out of 278 issues traded till then, 119 advanced, 106 declined and 53 remained unchanged.
Al-Arafa Islami Bank topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk76.94 million followed by Titas Gas Tk 48.05million, KDS Accessories Tk 46.37million and Far Chemical Tk 45.94million.
On the other hand, most of the stocks remained in red zones on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the second bourse of Bangladesh. A total of 181 issues were traded till 12.05pm on Wednesday at the port city bourse. Of the issues, 67 advanced, 88 declined and 26 remained unchanged.
