DSE stocks continue to rally for third consecutive day

The total market capitalisation of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has crossed the $ 8.0 billion (800 crore) mark for the second consecutive day Tuesday amid the rally of share prices.
The total market capitalisation of the DSE Tuesday rose to $ 8.26 billion or Tk 567.64 billion from Tk 561.48 billion ($ 8.17 billion) of Monday.
The share prices continued to rally for the third consecutive day of the current week amid the buying-spree of institutional and retail investors.
Market operators said the stock market has been showing buoyancy in recent times due to higher flow of fund.
On the day, all the market barometres and the turnover increased mainly due to increase in the share prices of bank, insurance and power sectors. On Tuesday, share prices of 21 out of 26 banks climbed up on the DSE.
DSE General Index (DGEN), All Shares Price Index (DSI) and DSE-20 Index (DS20) gained 27.355 points, 26.422 points and 24.498 points to close at 2425.772, 2027.561 and 1982.883 respectively.
The total turnover further rose to Tk 1.807 billion from Tk 1.662 billion on the previous day.
Out of 207 traded issues prices of 98 gained, 89 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
Power Grid was the turnover leader with traded volume worth Tk 222.761 million followed by BRAC Bank Tk 197.725 million, Desco Tk 148.160 million, Summit Power Tk 106.428 million, NBL Tk 74.191 million, UCBL Tk 71.434 million, AB Bank 63.290 million, Prime Bank Tk 60.406 million, Uttara Bank Tk 57.253 million and Square Pharma Tk 45.51 million.
Square Pharma prices declined 1.59 per cent to Tk 3507.00.
Summit Power has informed that due to unavoidable circumstances the 9th EGM of the company will now be held on September 29 at 11:00 AM at Bashundhara Convention Centre, Baridhara, Dhaka instead of the earlier declared date September 22.
