DSE to follow new method on index adjustment

Tuesday, 11 August 2009

FE Report
DSE indices as well as opening prices of the shares of a company will be adjusted following corporate benefits as per prescribed methodology of Madrid-based International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) with effect from September 1.
According to a DSE announcement, the new method will reflect the appropriate market position.
Under this system, opening price of the concerned company and respective DSE indices will be adjusted to the extent of corporate benefits. As a result, respective indices will not show any abnormal low position on the ex-dividend/ex-benefit date. And as such, circuit breaker will not be withdrawn on the ex-dividend date.
