DSE trading begins at 12:10am

Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) started at 12:10pm and will continue till 4:10pm on Wednesday as a technical glitch delayed trade resumption at the premier bourse. However, instruments on SPOT trading cycle will be tradable up till 2:30pm to facilitate financial settlement within banking hour. Usually trading begins at 10:30am at both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges and simultaneously closes at 2:30pm every working day. DSE officials said due to the sudden technical problem, some brokerage houses were unable to re-log the server. The recent technical glitches also disrupted trading activities on DSE on consecutive two days on May 24 and May 25, which forced the authorities to reduce the trading hours.
After 20 minutes of trade on Wednesday, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 22.94 points to reach 4,814.41, when the report was filed at 12.30pm. Turnover on the DSE stood at only Tk 418 million after 20 minutes of trade. Of the issues traded till then, 129 advanced, 38 declined and 36 remained unchanged.
However, the CSE trading started on time at 10:30am. After two hours of trade on CSE, its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gained 45 points to stand at 894.45. Of the issues traded till then, 115 advanced, 48 declined and 43 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk194 million.
