DSE turnover bounces back with gainers' dominance

The total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Thursday gained against the previous day after normal functioning of the Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd (CDBL) was restored.
The turnover went below Tk 1.0 billion Wednesday due to the technical glitch of the CDS operating company as trading of top five companies took place only for 15 minutes.
But the turnover bounced back with the dominance of the gainers on the last trading session of the week at Tk 1.256 billion from Tk 929.80 million on the previous day. The indices on the DSE remained mixed on the day.
But, the total market capitalisation declined to Tk 545.919 billion from Tk 546.548 billion on the previous day.
DSE General Index (DGEN) gained 2.009 points to close at 2396.124 on the day. But, both All Shares Price Index (DSI) and DSE-20 Index (DS20) shed 2.723 points and 0.251 points to close at 1955.924 and 2159.374 respectively.
Out of 205 traded issues prices of 110 increased, 78 declined and 17 remained unchanged on the day.
BRAC Bank was the turnover leader with traded volume worth Tk 78.504 million followed by Summit Power Tk 75.007 million, UCBL Tk 65.310 million, Square Pharma Tk 65.131 million, Lafarge Surma Tk 44.169 million, Desco Tk 42.902 million, Southeast Bank Tk 41.746 million, Power Grid Tk 29.213 million, Keya Cosmetic Tk 28.839 million and Pubali Bank Tk 27.040 million.
Prices of BRAC Bank gained 2.31 per cent to Tk 937.75, Summit Power by 3.61 per cent to Tk 1238.50, Square Pharma 1.72 per cent to Tk 5390.25, Lafarge Surma Cement 6.53 per cent to Tk 407.75, Desco 1.09 per cent to Tk 993.25, Power Grid 2.13 per cent to Tk 573.50 and Keya Cosmetic 4.98 per cent to Tk 37.90.
On the other hand, AB Bank declined 22.51 per cent to Tk 1616.00, UCBL 1.68 per cent to Tk 3337.50, Southeast Bank 0.13 per cent to Tk 574.50 and Pubali Bank 0.66 per cent to 900.50.
The price of AB Bank sharply fell 22.51 per cent as the company went ex-dividend on the day.
