DSE turnover crosses Tk 3b

Stocks returned to the green Monday with turnover on the prime bourse crossing Tk 3.0 billion mark after 13-session  as optimistic investors went for buying spree. The market opened with a positive note and continued till the market closure. DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSEX) ended at 4,394.94 points, gaining 20.75 points or 0.47 per cent. The other two indices also closed positive. The DS30, comprising blue chips gained 14.46 points or 0.90 per cent to close at 1,605.67 points. The DSES rose 7.44 points or 1.46 per cent to close at 991.71 points. The total turnover stood at Tk 3.09 billion, registering an increase of 17.49 per cent over the previous session’s value of Tk 2.63 billion. The gainers took a lead over the losers as out of 298 issues traded, 174 advanced, 92 declined and 32 remained unchanged on the DSE floor. Beximco Limited was the most traded stock for the seventh sessions with shares worth Tk 426.02 million changing hands followed by Shahjibazar Power, Square Pharma, Olympic and BSC. Exim Bank First Mutual Fund was the day’s highest gainer, posting a rise of 8.86 per cent while Standard Insurance was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 4.72 per cent. The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 53.42 points to close at 8,345.11 points. Gainers beat losers 99 to 68, with 36 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 6.68 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of Tk 242.74 million.
