DU announces Tk9.22b budget

The Dhaka University authority on Thursday announced an over Tk 9.22 billion (Tk 922.48 crore) budget for fiscal year 2022-23 (FY '23).
The budget was approved during Dhaka University (DU)'s annual senate session at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the DU campus on June 12.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the session while Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presented the budget.
According to the layout of the new budget, the university will spend 29.59 per cent of the total annual expenditure for wages and 23.74 per cent for alliances sector, 19.51 per cent for goods and service sector, 19.51 per cent for pensions and retirement facilities, 1.63 per cent for the research sector, 3.64 per cent for special grants sector and 2.38 per cent for capital sector.
As per the proposed budget, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide Tk 7.8194 billion and Tk 830 million will come from DU's own sources. Thus the FY '23 budget layout shows a deficit of Tk 575.4 million.
Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin also presented a Tk 8.6068 billion revised budget for the FY '22.
