DU, Buet BCL activists’ clash injures five

At least five students were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Zahurul Haque hall unit of Dhaka University (DU) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) unit on Friday night, reports UNB.
Witnesses said some activists of BCL Zahurul Haque hall unit and Buet unit locked into altercation over taking drugs on Thursday night.
Following the dispute, some activists of BCL Buet unit confined a DU student named Imran to a room on their campus on Friday afternoon.
Being informed, DU Zahurul hall BCL men released him and attacked some Buet students, leaving them injured.
Buet BCL president Shubhra Joti said, "Leaders and activists of Zahurul Haque Hall BCL attacked our leaders and activists and they only resisted it, leaving five of our activists injured."
The injured -Sourav, Debba, Anik, Mahuri and Sadman were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Of them, Sadman's condition is serious.
"They (Buet BCL men) confined one of our activists and when we went there to release him, they attacked us," said Zahurul Haque hall BCL general Secretary Asif Talukder.
DU Proctor Prof Golam Rabbani said the situation is now under control. Necessary measures would be taken after investigation.
