DU class, rehearsal rooms, built by India, open to students

A number of new class and rehearsal rooms for the Dhaka University (DU) constructed by the Indian government were opened Saturday to the students. Indian High Commi­ssioner to Dhaka Rajeet Mitter inaugurated those rooms at the Arts Building of the university. DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique attended the programme as chief guest. Some 10 classes and rehearsals rooms for the department of Music and other eight rooms for the department Theatre of the university were constructed recently at the Arts Building funded by the Indian government. DU Vice Chancellor thanked the Indian government for their financial support for the expansion of country's. He recalled the contribution of the Indian government during the glorious War of Independence in 1971. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Harun-or-Rashid, Treasurer Prof Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty Prof Sadrul Amin were present as special guests. Acting Chairman of Department of Theatre Prof Dr Israfil Shahin and Chairman of the department of Music Prof Kuhely addressed the function.
