DU honours 18 students with Dean's Award

Eighteen students of Dhaka University have been honoured with 'Dean's Award' Wednesday in recognition of their outstanding results in graduation and post-graduation levels.
The students received the awards for their achievement in BSS (Honours) and MSS examinations at a ceremony at the Teachers' Students Centre of the university.
Vice chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique attended the occasion as chief guest while pro-VC Prof Harun-or-Rashid and Treasurer Mizanur Rahman were present as special guests.
Social science faculty dean Dr Sheikh Abdus Salam presided over the function.
The awardees from 2006 batch are Md Raisul Islam from Mass Communication and Journalism, Tareq Aziz from Economics, Md Badrul Islam from Political Science, Jalal Uddin from Sociology, Syeda Nujhat-e-Ebrat from Public Administration, Sumaiya Habib from Anthropology, Shoraj Ahmed from Peace and Conflict Studies and Umme Bushra Fateha Sultana from Women and Gender Studies.
SM Abdullah from Economics, Md Moinul Huque from Political Science, Humayun Kabir from Sociology, Ibrahim Bin Harun from Mass Communication and Journalism, Md Bashir Mian Khadem from Public Administration, Fahmid Al Jayed from Anthropology, Ziaul Haque from Peace and Conflict Studies, Nafisa Tanjim from Women and Gender Studies and Abul Bashar Md Omar Faruq and Farah Nayer Jabin, both from Development Studies department were awarded from 2005 batch.
Prof Siddique during his speech called upon Dean Awardees to engage them more in pursuit of knowledge to build a knowledge-based society.
"Students have to devote themselves in quest of knowledge and quality education as it is the only tool to face the global challenge and discover the country's potential to build a prosperous nation," he added.
