DU mourns Jagannath Hall tragedy----

The Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday observed the Mourning Day remembering the students, employees and guests who died in a building collapse at the university's Jagannath Hall in 1985.
To mark the day, the DU authorities organised various programmes and hoisted black flags at all halls and main building of the university keeping the university flag at half-mast.
Students, teachers and employees wore black badges at 6am and placed wreaths at Jagannath Hall Memorial at 7:30am as a mark of respect for those killed in the tragedy, led by DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman.
After that, a discussion was held in the Jagannath Hall Auditorium with VC Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair. Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker conducted the discussion. Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, DU Teachers' Association acting President Dr Sabita Rizwana Rahman and its acting General Secretary Dr Md. Abdur Rahim, Jagannath Hall Provost Dr Mihir Lal Saha and others were also present there.
